The Indiana Pacers are bringing guard Mac McClung onto the main roster, reaching a multiyear, non-guaranteed agreement with the 26-year-old high-flyer, agent Greg Lawrence told Shams Charania of ESPN.
To open a spot, Indiana will waive center James Wiseman, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Wiseman’s contract carries a $1 million partial guarantee; if the 7-footer clears waivers, that amount will remain on the Pacers’ salary cap, Keith Smith of Spotrac reported.
Selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 draft, Wiseman signed with Indiana last summer after tearing his left Achilles in last season’s opener. He re-upped on a two-year deal in July—with the second season a team option—but again managed only one appearance this fall, posting four points and four rebounds in 20 minutes during Saturday’s loss in Memphis. With four other centers already under contract and several back-court injuries, the club opted to add guard depth.
McClung, a 6-foot-2 guard and three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion, has been one of the G League’s top performers over the past two seasons. He captured league MVP honors in 2023-24 and earned All-NBAGL First Team recognition in 2024-25 after averaging 23.0 points, 5.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds on 48/34/83 shooting for the Osceola Magic.
Since 2021, McClung has appeared in six NBA games across four franchises, including two brief outings with Orlando last season. After beginning this G League campaign with the Windy City Bulls, he now secures his first standard NBA contract and an opportunity to contribute immediately for an injury-depleted Indiana roster.
