SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 27, 2025 — Austin Reaves delivered a career-high 51 points and the Los Angeles Lakers, playing without Luka Doncic, held off the Sacramento Kings 127-120 on Sunday night.
The third-year guard shot 12-for-22 from the field, drained six three-pointers — the 500th of his career among them — and added 11 rebounds and nine assists. Reaves became just the fourth player in the last 40 years to post at least 50 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in a game, joining Doncic, Russell Westbrook (twice) and James Harden (twice). The only other Laker to reach those thresholds was Elgin Baylor, who went for 50 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists on Feb. 13, 1963.
Deandre Ayton supplied 22 points and 15 rebounds, while Rui Hachimura scored 18 for Los Angeles, which also continues to play without LeBron James (sciatica) until mid-November. Doncic missed the game with a sprained left-hand finger and a bruised lower left leg and will be reevaluated in about a week, the club said.
Reaves tallied 15 points in the fourth quarter, including a jumper that pushed the Lakers ahead 122-116 with 1:48 remaining. He then knocked down four free throws in the final 32 seconds to secure the victory.
Zach LaVine paced Sacramento with 32 points. DeMar DeRozan added 21, Domantas Sabonis recorded 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Dennis Schroder finished with 18 points and 12 assists.
Los Angeles opened the night on a 31-21 run behind Hachimura’s 10 quick points and seven each from Ayton and Marcus Smart. Sacramento rallied with seven three-pointers in the second quarter — three by Westbrook — to pull even at halftime before the Lakers closed strong.
