Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, now preparing for his 23rd NBA season, continues to impress younger peers with his commitment to offseason training. Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, a longtime offseason workout partner, said James’ enthusiasm has not dimmed despite two decades in the league.

“He was working out and talking and involved like it was probably Year 5 for him,” Maxey told ClutchPoints during a recent training session. “Anybody who gets to watch him work should feel honored because it’s amazing.”

The pair train together regularly through their shared representation at Klutch Sports. Maxey noted that James, 40, remains fully engaged only months after overcoming the MCL sprain that limited him during last season’s playoffs.

“I don’t know how many times I’ve worked out with him now,” Maxey added. “He does a good job talking, being vocal and helping. I’m very appreciative of him.”

James is coming off an All-NBA campaign and, according to Maxey, still approaches every drill with the same intensity that defined his early career. Lakers staff have indicated the four-time MVP is on schedule with his conditioning program as training camp approaches.

Team officials also continue to center future roster plans around star guard Luka Dončić. League sources say James supports the organization’s shift toward building around Dončić while he maintains his own championship pursuit in Los Angeles.
