OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., Nov. 12, 2025 — The Los Angeles Lakers were overpowered on Wednesday night, dropping a 121-92 decision to the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center.

Both clubs were without key players — LeBron James for Los Angeles and Jalen Williams for Oklahoma City — yet the Thunder controlled every phase of the game to hand the Lakers their fourth loss of the young season.

Game flow

Luka Dončić opened the scoring for Los Angeles with a layup followed by a deep three-pointer, but Oklahoma City responded with an 11-0 burst, forcing turnovers and racing ahead 17-10. The Thunder led 30-18 after one quarter, fueled late by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The second period widened the gap. Oklahoma City started the quarter on a 10-3 run and held the Lakers without a field goal for nearly eight minutes. A shot-clock-beating three by Marcus Smart provided L.A.’s lone highlight, while the Thunder rolled into halftime up 70-38.

Second-half struggles

Head coach JJ Redick could not spark a turnaround after the break. Oklahoma City’s defense forced more empty possessions, and a timeout with 3:31 left in the third found Los Angeles behind 88-52. The Thunder finished the quarter ahead 100-64, prompting both benches to empty for most of the fourth.
