Nike has released a short video promoting the upcoming LeBron XXIII, spotlighting Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James as he prepares for his 23rd NBA season and first year playing at age 41.

The 15-second spot, posted on Sept. 1, 2025, on Nike Basketball’s official X account, features the tagline “He is the Forever King” and invites fans to “prepare to behold the greatness.” The clip serves as the opening salvo of the brand’s “Forever King” tour tied to James’ newest signature model.

Historic season on the horizon

James is set to become the first player in league history to take the court for a 23rd campaign. Entering his eighth year with the Lakers, the four-time MVP is coming off an All-NBA Second Team selection and continues to rank near the top of NBA jersey-sales charts.

First colorway honors 40,000-point milestone

Nike confirmed that the debut edition of the LeBron XXIII, dubbed “40K Points,” will arrive on Oct. 3. The release commemorates the night James surpassed 40,000 career points—an achievement no other NBA player has reached.

The shoe will be available in adult and kids sizes, retailing for $210. Its metallic, iridescent upper shifts between gold, orange and green hues. Design details include James’ crown logo on the side panel, his signature engraved in gold on the tongue and a “40K” badge stitched on the heel.

Commemorative packaging and extras

Each pair ships in special packaging that differentiates it from standard drops. Inside the box, buyers will find a timeline booklet chronicling James’ path to 40,000 points and a “40K” pin housed in a velvet pouch, adding a collectible element for sneaker enthusiasts.

The LeBron XXIII is the latest addition to one of basketball’s most enduring signature lines, arriving as its namesake continues to redefine longevity in the NBA.
