The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly set to close the NBA’s Opening Week with a visit to Northern California, facing the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, Oct. 26, according to NBC Sacramento reporter Sean Cunningham.
The game would mark the Lakers’ third contest of the 2025-26 season. Los Angeles is already scheduled to open the year at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. PT against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
Sacramento’s early slate is also taking shape. The Kings are expected to begin their season on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in Phoenix against the Suns, host the Utah Jazz in their home opener on Friday, Oct. 24, and then welcome the Lakers two nights later at Golden 1 Center.
Division opponents meet four times during the regular season, making this the first of four Lakers-Kings matchups. Sacramento’s biggest offseason move was the addition of former Laker Dennis Schröder on a three-year contract to assume the starting point-guard role. The club’s core of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan remains intact, while reported interest in ex-Laker Russell Westbrook has yet to yield an agreement.
The Lakers enter their first full campaign with Luka Dončić, who will not see his former Dallas Mavericks teammates until the end of November during the Emirates NBA Cup.
