Oklahoma City, Okla., Nov. 12, 2025 – The Los Angeles Lakers never led Wednesday night, falling 121-92 to the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center in a game Marcus Smart believes offered “nothing” to build on.
The veteran guard, who started and logged 28 minutes, finished with nine points, one rebound, no assists, two turnovers and three fouls while shooting 1-for-5 from the floor and 1-for-4 from beyond the arc. He was one of six Lakers who shot below 50 percent.
Asked what lessons the team could extract from the 29-point defeat, Smart kept his answer brief. “Nothing,” he said, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “There’s nothing you can take away other than we got our ass kicked, and we got to bounce back.”
Smart added that Oklahoma City excelled in every phase: “Making shots, running plays, making the right play, finding the open guy. It was everything. We’ve got to be better, especially against this team.”
Los Angeles trailed by 34 at halftime and never threatened after the break. The Thunder, led by 30 points from MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, shot freely against a Lakers defense that yielded 121 points. Offensively, L.A. failed to keep pace, managing only 92 points against a club boasting one of the league’s top defenses.
Austin Reaves also struggled, posting 13 points on 4-of-12 shooting along with five rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes.
The loss drops the Lakers to 0-1 on their current trip as they prepare for the next leg of the schedule.
