Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic announced on Saturday that he and fiancée Anamaria Goltes have welcomed their second daughter, Olivia, in Slovenia.
Doncic traveled to his home country earlier in the week for the birth, missing the first two contests of the Lakers’ three-game East Coast trip. Without their leading scorer, Los Angeles edged the Toronto Raptors on a last-second shot before falling to the Boston Celtics in the second night of the back-to-back.
Head coach JJ Redick said he is “hopeful” Doncic will rejoin the club for Sunday night’s matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers. Redick also expects LeBron James, who sat out against Boston, to be available. If Doncic cannot return in time for the 76ers game, the team anticipates he will meet the Lakers in Los Angeles ahead of Wednesday’s Emirates NBA Cup quarterfinal against the San Antonio Spurs.
The birth marks the couple’s second child; their first daughter, Gabriela, was born in 2023.
Teammate Austin Reaves recently said he plans to visit Doncic in Slovenia next summer and has invited the All-Star guard to his hometown in Arkansas. “My door is always wide open for him and his family,” Reaves added.
