Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has become Slovenia’s all-time leading scorer in international competition after a 37-point performance against Israel at EuroBasket 2025.
Historic milestone
Doncic reached 1,100 career points for the national team on Sept. 4, surpassing former record holder Goran Dragic, who finished his Slovenia career with 1,095 points. The record-setting outing came during Group D play at Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland.
Tournament impact
The 26-year-old star is leading all EuroBasket players in scoring at 32.4 points per game, ranks second in assists with 8.4 and is eighth in rebounds at 8.0. His production helped Slovenia secure a place in the round of 16 after wins over Iceland and Israel.
Lakers implications
The Lakers, preparing for the 2025-26 NBA season, have been monitoring Doncic’s summer form. Team legend Pau Gasol recently expressed enthusiasm for what the guard can bring in his first full season with Los Angeles following last year’s trade from Dallas.
For now, Doncic remains focused on Slovenia’s EuroBasket run as the knockout stage approaches.
