Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been named to the 2025 Emirates NBA Cup All-Tournament Team, the league announced on December 18.
Doncic joins Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks, DeAaron Fox of the San Antonio Spurs, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder on the five-player list.
Standout numbers in Cup play
Across five tournament games, Doncic averaged 36.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 10.0 assists while shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 44.2 percent from three-point range. He scored at least 35 points in four contests, topped 40 points twice, and posted double-digit assists three times. Those totals ranked him second in scoring and tied for fourth in assists among all Cup participants.
Lakers’ tournament run
Los Angeles went 4-0 in group play before falling to San Antonio in the quarterfinals. The Spurs advanced to the championship game, where they were defeated by New York. Brunson captured Cup MVP honors as the Knicks claimed the title; however, the franchise indicated it will not hang a championship banner, a departure from the Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks’ decisions after winning previous editions.
The recognition places Doncic alongside several of the tournament’s top performers as the Lakers shift focus back to the remainder of the regular season.
