More than six months after the blockbuster deal that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, the All-NBA guard has put his time in Dallas behind him, according to his longtime manager Lara Beth Seager.

Seager told The Athletic that Doncic is no longer dwelling on the midseason trade that ended his six-year stint with the Mavericks. “He’s moved on,” she said, adding that the 26-year-old is “only looking forward” as he begins his first full campaign in purple and gold.

Doncic arrived in Los Angeles last February, only months after steering Dallas to the 2024 NBA Finals. Despite the surprise of the deal, he quickly signaled a long-term commitment, signing a three-year contract extension that carries a player option for the 2028-29 season.

Seager indicated the new agreement underscores Doncic’s intent to be the centerpiece of a championship push. “He wants the best players here. He wants to win, and he knows it starts with him,” she said.

The four-time All-Star enters his age-26 season looking to silence critics who questioned his leadership and conditioning following last year’s playoff run. He averaged 32.5 points, 9.4 assists and 8.7 rebounds in 2024-25 and now leads a Lakers roster positioned to contend immediately.

Doncic has also spoken about loftier goals in Los Angeles, telling reporters he aims to help raise additional banners at Crypto.com Arena and eventually see his No. 77 jersey hanging in the rafters.

For now, both player and club appear aligned on taking the next step. “I’m gonna show them who I am,” Doncic said earlier this offseason. With the trade in the past and a fresh contract in hand, the Slovenian star begins training camp determined to deliver the franchise’s 18th championship.
