Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been named to the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 All-Star Five following a standout performance that carried Slovenia to the quarterfinals.
The honor places Doncic alongside Germany’s Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner, Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Turkey’s Alperen Sengun. Schroder and Wagner captured the championship after Germany defeated Turkey in the final, with Schroder earning tournament MVP honors. Antetokounmpo and Greece claimed the bronze medal.
Doncic, the only All-Star Five member whose team missed the semifinals, led EuroBasket in scoring at 34.7 points per game while adding 8.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 3.2 steals. His 65.4 percent true-shooting rate topped off an effort that saw him lead Slovenia in every major statistical category and log only the fifth triple-double in EuroBasket history—26 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists against Belgium in the group stage.
Advanced metrics underscored his impact: Slovenia posted an offensive rating of 125.4 with Doncic on the floor versus 104.0 without him, and a defensive rating of 117.5 compared with 129.7 when he sat—resulting in a net rating swing of more than 33 points.
The 26-year-old’s latest recognition marks his second EuroBasket All-Star Five nod, matching his 2017 achievement. Slovenia recovered from two opening losses to win its final three group games, eliminated Italy in the round of 16, and fell to eventual champion Germany in a close quarterfinal matchup.
Focus shifts to Lakers
With international play behind him, Doncic now turns to the upcoming NBA season. “Championship, that is our goal. That should always be our goal; obviously we went out in the first round, but our goal is championship,” he said recently.
