Los Angeles — Nike has tapped Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James to headline the first commercial for the new Nike Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds, turning the four-time NBA champion into a weekend golfer who tunes out unsolicited advice.

The 60-second spot, released by Nike on X on March 17, 2026, follows James onto a golf course where every passerby offers swing tips. James answers by inserting the Powerbeats Pro 2, muting the crowd and playing on his own terms.

Nike described the device as “the ultimate fitness earbuds” and the inaugural collaboration between Beats and Nike, pairing Beats’ audio technology with Nike’s focus on stability. The earbuds are scheduled to launch March 20 at 9 a.m. PT through Nike’s online store and other retail channels.

James, who began golfing recreationally in recent years, has spoken publicly about the game’s difficulty and the constant feedback he receives while practicing. The commercial leans on that experience to illustrate the product’s noise-isolating capabilities.

Agent Rejects “Better Without LeBron” Narrative

Separately, Klutch Sports founder Rich Paul dismissed recent chatter suggesting the Lakers perform better without James. Paul told reporters he does not believe any team has ever improved by removing the 39-year-old star from its lineup.

The advertisement is Nike’s latest collaboration with one of its longest-tenured athletes; James signed with the company as a rookie in 2003 and has appeared in dozens of campaigns since.
