Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James believes his legacy will ultimately be defined not by championships or records, but by how well his three children navigate life. Speaking recently to Hypebeast, the four-time NBA champion said his personal barometer for achievement centers on Bronny, Bryce and Zhuri James.

“My definition of success is how my kids succeed in life,” James stated. “I just hope that in the time that I’ve been able to do what I’ve been able to do it’s instilled in them to be kind, work hard, determined, how to handle adversity and also just be you.”

James, 39, married his high-school sweetheart Savannah in 2013. Their eldest son Bronny, 20, joined his father on the Lakers roster for the 2024-25 season. Middle son Bryce, 17, is beginning his freshman basketball season at the University of Arizona, while 10-year-old daughter Zhuri is still in elementary school.

The emphasis on family has long accompanied James’ on-court résumé, which includes four MVP awards, four NBA titles and 20 All-Star selections. On October 30, 2024, he and Bronny warmed up together at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland prior to a matchup with the Cavaliers, a scene that underscored the elder James’ commitment to sharing his professional life with his children.

Off the floor, James recently voiced support for Lakers teammate Luka Doncic, who is competing for Slovenia in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket tournament. James highlighted Doncic’s international run in a social-media post during the NBA offseason.
