LeBron James added another line to his extensive résumé on Dec. 7, 2025, moving into sole possession of second place on the NBA’s regular-season wins list as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

The 40-year-old forward entered the night tied with Hall of Famer Robert Parish and broke the deadlock when the Lakers secured a 114-109 victory. James delivered several late three-pointers, including the final dagger, and finished the game looking more like his pre-injury self.

It’s super humbling, for sure,” James said afterward. “Being mentioned with someone like Robert Parish, who meant so much to the game and won so many championships, is special. The players who came before us laid the path, and I’m trying to do the same for the next generation.”

Parish, a cornerstone of the Boston Celtics’ 1980s dynasty, congratulated James on social media: “Watching greatness reach new heights is always special. Records are meant to be broken, and seeing LeBron surpass mine for regular season wins is a reminder of his remarkable talent and passion for the game. Congratulations LeBron!”

James is in his 23rd NBA season and remains a central figure in the Lakers’ pursuit of an 18th championship. After looking tentative in his return from injury earlier in the year, his performance in Philadelphia suggested he still has “more gas left in the tank,” as he put it.

The victory kept Los Angeles firmly in the Western Conference playoff mix. James, who recently praised former “baby Lakers” teammates such as Brandon Ingram following a win over the Toronto Raptors, continues to balance individual milestones with the team’s title aspirations.
