LOS ANGELES – By guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to a 124-109 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night, LeBron James collected the 1,229th win of his career, eclipsing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most combined regular-season and postseason victories in NBA history.
The milestone arrived on March 31, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena, where the 41-year-old forward is completing his 23rd season. James now tops the league charts in points, minutes, games played, field goals made and total wins.
Tuesday’s game produced several other benchmarks for the Lakers. Forward Rui Hachimura reached 5,000 career points, while teammate Luka Dončić surpassed 15,000, closing out a prolific March. Head coach JJ Redick notched his 100th win in just his second season on the bench.
James, who spent two separate stints with the Cavaliers and captured the 2016 title in Cleveland, downplayed individual accolades but acknowledged the importance of winning. “We’re in a good place right now,” he said after a recent victory. “The chemistry is high. Everyone loves being around each other … it’s a tight-knit group, and we’ve got to carry that through the rest of the regular season. The postseason is a whole new season.”
With Tuesday’s triumph, the Lakers continued a late-season surge that has strengthened their playoff positioning, while James added another line to a résumé already crowded with NBA records.
