Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James says he has discovered a new pastime that he cannot put down. In a social-media clip shared on August 9, 2025, the 20-time All-Star filmed himself swinging a club during a rainstorm and declared he is “officially addicted” to golf.
James, 40, picked up the sport earlier this summer while recovering from injury. The latest video shows the four-time NBA champion staying on the course despite heavy rain, underscoring how quickly the hobby has become a focal point of his offseason routine.
Golf is popular among professional athletes, and James is not the only Laker frequently spotted on the links. Guard Austin Reaves competed in the American Century Championship celebrity tournament for the second consecutive year last month.
Unlike basketball, golf requires players to contend not only with competitors but also with each course’s unique layout and conditions. That strategic element appears to appeal to James as he approaches the later stages of his NBA career.
Return to Cleveland Set for January 28
Portions of the 2025-26 regular-season schedule have begun to surface, and one notable date is January 28, 2026, when the Lakers are expected to visit the Cleveland Cavaliers. The contest could mark James’s final appearance in his hometown as an active player.
The Lakers will open training camp next month, but James’s newfound enthusiasm for golf shows no sign of slowing as he balances workouts with time on the fairways.
