LeBron James will celebrate his 41st birthday on Tuesday, marking the occasion in the midst of his 23rd NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers—an achievement no other player has reached.

Two days before the milestone, the forward put on a vintage display in a home win over the Sacramento Kings at Crypto.com Arena. James scored 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting, punctuating the night with two alley-oop finishes and a fast-break reverse dunk.

After the game, James referenced his longstanding “Father Time” commercial from 2020-21 and assessed the ongoing duel with a grin. “I’m in a battle with him, and I would like to say I’m kicking his ass on the back nine,” he said.

While his workload has been managed in recent seasons and injuries occur more frequently than earlier in his career, Sunday’s performance underscored his ability to rise when the Lakers need him. Los Angeles entered the contest on a three-game skid and played without guard Austin Reaves, who is sidelined at least four weeks with a calf strain.

Asked how he plans to fill the void during Reaves’ absence, James replied, “Whatever’s needed. If it’s a little bit more defensive rebounding, a little bit more scoring, or a little bit more assisting to take a little pressure off Luka Dončić, if he needs it… I’ve done it all, so I can still do it at a high level, if need be.”

James remains the league’s most enduring star, still producing highlight plays more than two decades after entering the NBA. For now, he insists the matchup against Father Time is tilting in his favor.
