The Los Angeles Lakers will introduce a new on-court look for LeBron James when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026. The 41-year-old forward is set to wear a special-edition jersey patch commemorating his 23rd NBA season, the first player in league history to reach that milestone.

The patch, created in partnership with trading-card company Topps, will appear on James’ jersey beginning with Monday’s game at Golden 1 Center and remain for the rest of the season. After each contest, the patch will be removed; select pieces will be embedded into ultra-rare Topps trading cards.

Topps announced the collaboration on social media, noting that Sacramento was chosen for the debut because James opened his NBA career against the Kings on Oct. 29, 2003. In that first game, the rookie scored 25 points, grabbed six rebounds, handed out nine assists and recorded four steals while shooting 12-for-20 from the field.

Los Angeles enters Monday’s matchup on a two-game skid but will have its regular rotation available except for Austin Reaves and Adou Thiero, who remain sidelined by long-term injuries. Gabe Vincent and Rui Hachimura are expected to return to action, while Luka Dončić joins James in the starting lineup.

Sacramento, one of three NBA teams with fewer than 10 victories, defeated the Houston Rockets on Sunday and will be playing the second leg of a back-to-back.

Respect From a Fellow MVP

James’ longevity drew praise from Giannis Antetokounmpo after the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Lakers on Friday. The two-time MVP received James’ game jersey and called the 23-year veteran “the blueprint for every athlete” because of his consistency, durability and leadership.

James continues his record-setting campaign Monday night, adding a collectible twist for fans eager to secure a piece of his historic 23rd season.
