Los Angeles Lakers big man Maxi Kleber appears fully recovered from last season’s foot surgery, showcasing a windmill dunk in an Instagram video posted on August 11, 2025. The clip, shared from a workout session, highlights the 6-foot-10 center’s updated burst and leaping ability.

Kleber, 33, missed the entire 2024-25 regular season while rehabbing after being acquired from Dallas in the Luka Doncic trade. He logged his only minutes of the year in the Lakers’ first-round playoff loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, finishing with two points.

The veteran’s return adds another option to head coach JJ Redick’s frontcourt, which already includes offseason signee Deandre Ayton and returning center Jaxson Hayes. Known more for perimeter shooting than low-post physicality, Kleber has averaged 35.9 percent from three over his career and offers weak-side rim protection on defense.

With 2025-26 marking the final season of his current contract, Kleber is expected to compete for rotation minutes when training camp opens at the UCLA Health Training Center. The Lakers will open the regular season on NBA Opening Night at Crypto.com Arena against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
