With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, several Los Angeles Lakers players are said to favor pursuing Brooklyn Nets center Day’Ron Sharpe, according to Dan Woike of The Athletic.
Sharpe, 24, drew attention Tuesday night when he posted 19 points and 14 rebounds in Brooklyn’s loss to Los Angeles at Barclays Center. The 6-foot-11 big man is represented by the same agency that handles Lakers guard Austin Reaves and forward Jake LaRavia, a link that reportedly fuels internal support for a potential deal.
The Lakers have already secured a playoff-caliber record in the crowded Western Conference behind stars Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Reaves, yet team officials continue to seek upgrades in defense, shooting and size. Deandre Ayton and Jaxson Hayes have formed a productive center rotation this season, but Ayton’s recent dip in production and ongoing injury concerns across the roster have increased interest in adding a third reliable frontcourt option.
Los Angeles enters the deadline with limited trade assets.
