The Los Angeles Lakers have appointed Los Angeles Dodgers Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Lon Rosen as their new President of Business Operations, the organization confirmed. He will succeed Tim Harris, who is scheduled to leave the post at the end of the season.

The hire deepens the growing ties between the two storied Los Angeles franchises. Lakers owner Mark Walter, who also leads the Dodgers, has been expected to replicate several of the baseball club’s strategies on the basketball side. Rosen’s arrival is designed to accelerate that crossover.

Rosen, 65, began his professional career as a Lakers intern in 1979—one year before the late Dr. Jerry Buss purchased the team—and later served as the franchise’s Director of Promotions. He subsequently represented Magic Johnson as both agent and business partner, cementing long-standing relationships within the organization.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported on February 19, 2026, that Rosen intends to introduce “best practices” developed with the Dodgers to the Lakers’ business operations. During Rosen’s tenure, the Dodgers have become one of Major League Baseball’s top revenue producers and a model for fan engagement.

Lakers officials have already consulted senior Dodgers executives on multiple initiatives. Rosen’s full-time presence is expected to formalize that pipeline as Walter continues to shape the franchise’s off-court direction.

In a statement released by the team, Rosen said his primary objective is to foster further growth for the Lakers and that he looks forward to collaborating closely with team governor Jeanie Buss and vice president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka. Rosen and Buss have worked together since the 1980s, a relationship both sides believe will ease the transition.
