Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic’s representative, Misko Raznatovic, has confirmed that his recent yacht meeting with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and longtime business partner Maverick Carter was strictly about launching a new basketball league, not James’ playing future.
Speaking on the “6.75range Podcast,” Raznatovic said Carter and a group of investors are exploring a league that would “compete with the NBA” while emphasizing a “European flavor.” According to the agent, multiple contacts recommended him as a consultant, leading Carter to arrange an in-person discussion aboard the boat, which James also attended.
“We talked a lot about the new league, how it would be built, and what would be done,” Raznatovic told the podcast. He added that his role is now official, but offered no timeline for the prospective venture.
The yacht photo, posted earlier this offseason on Raznatovic’s social media, had fueled speculation that James—who could become a free agent next summer—might consider joining Jokic in Denver. Raznatovic’s comments clarify that the gathering centered on business rather than potential roster moves.
James, 39, is preparing for his 21st NBA season and remains under contract with the Lakers through 2023-24, holding a player option for 2024-25.
