Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic said he is anxious to see backcourt partner Austin Reaves return from injury as the team embarks on an eight-game road swing, its longest of the season.
Reaves has been sidelined several weeks with a right calf issue, and the Lakers have held him out as a precaution. Team officials expect the guard to suit up at some point on the current trip.
Speaking to Spectrum SportsNet, Doncic praised Reaves’ on-court impact and chemistry. “He’s an amazing player who helps us in many ways,” Doncic said, adding that having Reaves travel with the club again makes the journey “very fun” off the floor as well.
The four-time All-Star acknowledged the value of Reaves’ return during the lengthy stretch away from Crypto.com Arena but emphasized caution. “It’s huge if we can get him back,” Doncic noted. “With a calf, you have to be fully healthy first.”
When healthy, Doncic and Reaves have formed the NBA’s highest-scoring backcourt. In Reaves’ absence, Doncic has maintained his dominant form and recently finished as the leading vote-getter for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.
