Los Angeles — Sept. 18, 2025: Lakers guard Luka Doncic took to social media on Thursday to playfully urge teammate Austin Reaves to get a haircut before the team reports to training camp.
The exchange came after the Lakers’ official account posted photos of Reaves working out at the team’s El Segundo practice facility. In the comments, Doncic wrote that his backcourt partner should “lock in” and tidy up his growing hair, a message captured in a post by NBA on Prime.
The light-hearted request arrives as the pair prepares for its first full season together. Doncic, who joined the Lakers at last season’s trade deadline and later signed a maximum contract extension, recently showcased mid-season form and improved defensive effort while starring for Slovenia at the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket tournament.
Reaves, meanwhile, is coming off a career year in which he flirted with All-Star consideration. Entering the final season of his deal, the 25-year-old guard hopes another step forward will lead to a lucrative new contract next summer.
