LOS ANGELES — The NBA has unveiled the starters for the 2026 All-Star Game, and Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic received more fan votes than any other player, securing his sixth straight appearance and first time as the league’s overall leading vote-getter.
Speaking to Spectrum SportsNet after the announcement, the 26-year-old thanked supporters for helping him reach what he called a “huge achievement,” emphasizing that he does not take the recognition for granted. “It’s incredible to experience this,” he said, noting that childhood dreams motivated his pursuit of basketball.
Doncic added that the celebration will be brief. While he welcomes the chance to share the court with usual rivals during the three-day showcase, he stressed that his attention will quickly return to the Lakers and their championship push once the festivities end.
The 2026 exhibition will again feature a Team USA vs. The World format, expanded into a round-robin mini-tournament involving two American squads and one international roster. Doncic will join fellow internationals Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the World team.
LeBron James, whose record run of 21 straight All-Star starts ended this year, publicly congratulated his teammate after the voting results were released.
Doncic and the Lakers return to regular-season action immediately after the break as they continue their pursuit of the franchise’s next NBA title.
