Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James will travel to China next month as part of Nike’s “Forever King” Tour, marking his 15th trip to the country and the 20th anniversary of his first Nike tour in Asia.
According to Nike, the 40-year-old star is scheduled to appear in Shanghai and Chengdu ahead of his 23rd NBA season. The visit is designed to celebrate his long-standing connection with Chinese fans and to promote grassroots basketball initiatives.
While in China, James will work directly with athletes from the Nike RISE program, which focuses on developing young players and providing pathways to professional basketball. “There’s an unbelievable love and appreciation for basketball in Asia that’s always incredible to experience,” James said in a statement released by Nike. “To have the opportunity to share the game with fans and connect with athletes all over the world means a lot to me.”
James remains under contract with the Lakers after exercising his player option for the 2025-26 season. Despite occasional speculation—including multiple inquiries from the Golden State Warriors—no trade discussions are currently advancing, and James holds a full no-trade clause.
With training camp a little more than a month away, the Lakers’ roster appears largely set as James continues preparing for another year on the court and another international outreach effort off it.
