Springfield, Mass. — LeBron James joined former Olympic teammates in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Sept. 6, 2025, as the entire 2008 U.S. men’s squad — widely known as the “Redeem Team” — was enshrined at Symphony Hall.
James, already bound for individual induction once eligible, marked the moment on Instagram, sharing his excitement about entering the Hall alongside a roster that included Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Jason Kidd, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony. Howard and Anthony were also honored individually during the 2025 ceremony.
The Redeem Team was assembled after Team USA finished sixth in the 2002 FIBA World Championship and settled for bronze at both the 2004 Olympics and 2006 FIBA World Cup. Charged with restoring the nation’s dominance, the group rolled through the Beijing Games, securing gold by outlasting a strong Spain lineup led by Pau Gasol.
During the induction speech, James referred to Bryant as the squad’s “missing link,” saying the Lakers legend’s commitment elevated expectations throughout the roster.
The 2008 team’s Hall of Fame plaque recognizes its perfect Olympic run and the individual achievements of its members, many of whom are already enshrined or expected to be inducted separately in the coming years.
