San Antonio—Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent rejoined the rotation Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs after missing nine consecutive games with a back injury. The 28-year-old logged 19 minutes off the bench, hitting two three-pointers and finishing with six points, two rebounds and two assists in the 129-115 loss.

“It felt good to get back out there and compete,” Vincent told Spectrum SportsNet postgame. “I went through my minutes, handled them well, body feels good so far.”

Vincent said the back issue was a first for him and described his three-week absence as “frustrating,” noting he had already sat 11 games earlier in the season because of an ankle sprain. Wednesday’s appearance was his 15th game of the year.

With Austin Reaves sidelined, head coach Darvin Ham relied on Vincent’s ability to play on and off the ball, space the floor and defend. Both player and team are hopeful the injury problems are behind him.

The Lakers were also without LeBron James, who sat out the second night of the back-to-back. The 41-year-old forward said his availability for back-to-backs will remain “to be determined” for the rest of the season.
