During the Los Angeles Lakers’ 129-118 win over the Indiana Pacers on March 25, 2026, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark traded her jersey for a camera. The Indiana Fever guard spent the night on the baseline photographing the action, snapping images of superstars LeBron James and Luka Dončić.

One photograph of James drew widespread attention after Clark posted it to Instagram and spoke about the moment on the NBA’s “Courtside” broadcast four days later. Calling the 41-year-old forward “the King” and “my GOAT,” Clark recounted making eye contact with James before lowering her camera and smiling, only to be met with what she described as his “straight face.”

Clark, one of the most recognizable figures in women’s basketball, said the opportunity to shoot photographs allowed her to experience the game from a new perspective and preserve memories of players she grew up watching. Along with images of James, she captured several frames of Dončić during the Lakers’ final contest of their six-game road trip.

The Fever star will soon shift back from photographer to player when the WNBA season opens. Indiana is chasing its first championship since 2012, and Clark is expected to be at the forefront of that effort.

James, meanwhile, could face a different sort of transition. The four-time NBA champion holds an unrestricted free-agent option this summer, and the Golden State Warriors have emerged as a potential destination should he play a 24th season.
