The NBA’s new broadcast landscape will debut with a familiar face for Los Angeles fans. Lakers guard Luka Doncic appears in Amazon Prime Video’s latest commercial promoting its first season of NBA coverage, set to launch on Oct. 24, 2025.
The 30-second ad, released on Sept. 12 through the @NBAonPrime account, shows Doncic and Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell emerging from oversized Prime delivery boxes at a fan’s doorstep. Retired six-time All-Star Blake Griffin plays the delivery driver, closing the spot with the tagline, “Special delivery! Prime is bringing you the NBA.”
Amazon joins ESPN and newly returned NBC as national partners beginning with the 2025-26 season, replacing TNT. Prime Video will stream selected regular-season and playoff matchups; the Lakers are scheduled for seven Prime appearances during Doncic’s first full year in Los Angeles.
Pairing Doncic with LeBron James gives the Lakers one of the league’s most marketable duos, a key reason the franchise features prominently in Amazon’s package. The 26-year-old guard already fronts several endorsement campaigns and recently agreed to a three-year contract extension with Los Angeles.
Off the court, Doncic has settled into Southern California life by purchasing a Manhattan Beach home previously owned by tennis champion Maria Sharapova. On the international stage, he guided an undermanned Slovenia to the EuroBasket 2025 quarterfinals, performances the Lakers believe foreshadow a standout NBA campaign.
Prime Video’s first NBA telecast tips off Oct. 24, when Doncic and the Lakers begin a season aimed at returning the franchise to the postseason.
