LOS ANGELES — The Lakers’ injury report for Friday’s home game against the Milwaukee Bucks lists LeBron James and Rui Hachimura as questionable.
James is dealing with left foot joint arthritis and right sciatica, while Hachimura has a right calf strain. Both players missed time recently, with James sitting out the last contest against the San Antonio Spurs and Hachimura sidelined for five straight games.
Head coach Darvin Ham said decisions on their availability will be made closer to tip-off based on how each player feels. Given James’ age and extensive workload, the club continues to exercise caution.
Austin Reaves (left calf strain) and Adou Thiero (right MCL sprain) remain out.
James keeping back-to-back status open
The 41-year-old forward reiterated that his participation in back-to-backs will be evaluated case-by-case. “Every back-to-back, for the rest of the season, is TBD,” James said. “I am 41. I got the most minutes in NBA history. Bank that answer right now.”
Lakers brace for demanding stretch
Friday’s game precedes a challenging span of five games in seven days starting Monday, a run that includes road trips to Sacramento and Portland plus three home dates. With additional schedule pressure looming, Los Angeles hopes to have both James and Hachimura available to bolster its scoring punch.
If either player is sidelined, increased minutes are expected for Jake LaRavia, Marcus Smart and Dalton Knecht.
