The Los Angeles Lakers erased a 16-point deficit on Sunday night to edge the Memphis Grizzlies, 120-114, at home, securing their second straight victory over Memphis and improving to 22-11.
Both clubs were missing key players—Memphis remained without star guard Ja Morant—yet the Lakers again proved unflappable in late-game situations. Head coach JJ Redick’s squad is now 12-0 in contests that reach “clutch time,” defined as a margin of five points or fewer in the final five minutes.
Key performances
Luka Doncic led all scorers with 36 points on 10-for-20 shooting, adding nine rebounds, eight assists and a block. The Slovenian guard buried back-to-back three-pointers in the closing minutes to put the game out of reach.
LeBron James contributed 26 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists and a steal. The 41-year-old forward is averaging 25.2 points over his last 11 outings as he continues his 23rd NBA season.
Forward Jake LaRavia delivered 26 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal in 34 minutes, recording his second consecutive strong showing against his former team. Center Deandre Ayton added 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks as Los Angeles made a concerted effort to involve him early.
Up next
The Lakers begin a two-game road back-to-back on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans, followed by a Wednesday matchup with the San Antonio Spurs before returning home on Friday.
