Los Angeles Lakers governor Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka have arrived in Poland to back star guard Luka Doncic as he gears up to represent Slovenia in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 tournament.
The pair attended Slovenia’s final practice on Wednesday, Aug. 27, one day before the team opens Group D play against Poland. Reporter Dan Woike of The Athletic captured their appearance, underscoring the organization’s commitment to its new centerpiece.
Doncic joined the Lakers earlier this offseason in a blockbuster trade and signed a three-year, $165 million extension on Aug. 2. He has said the franchise fully supports his decision to compete internationally, despite the potential injury concerns that often lead NBA clubs to discourage such participation.
Slovenia’s group-stage schedule is as follows: Poland on Aug. 28, France on Aug. 30, Belgium on Aug. 31, Iceland on Sept. 2 and Israel on Sept. 4. The top four teams in each group advance to the knockout phase beginning Sept. 6.
EuroBasket 2025 will serve as Doncic’s first competitive action since joining Los Angeles. The Lakers’ NBA campaign is scheduled to tip off in October.
