EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Drew Timme to a two-way contract and have waived center Christian Koloko to clear the roster spot, the club announced on Thursday.

Timme, 24, has been dominant for the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, during the league’s Tip-Off Tournament. Over six games, he is averaging 25.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 steals. His performance from Nov. 7–16 earned him NBA G League Player of the Week honors after leading South Bay to a 3-0 start while posting 30.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

Last season, the 6-foot-10 forward was named to the All-NBA G League Second Team with the Long Island Nets, where he compiled 23.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He also appeared in nine NBA games for the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Before turning professional, Timme starred at Gonzaga University. The Texas native was a three-time All-American, earning unanimous first-team recognition as a senior when he posted 21.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He won the Karl Malone Award as the nation’s top power forward in 2021 and was twice voted West Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Koloko, 23, saw action in 37 games for Los Angeles last season, showing flashes as a rim-runner and weak-side shot blocker. The 7-foot center overcame a year-long absence caused by blood clot issues and returned to play two games for the Lakers this season. He also logged two outings with South Bay, averaging 8.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.

The roster move comes as Los Angeles continues to search for improved perimeter shooting. Despite ranking near the bottom of the league in three-point percentage, LeBron James said earlier this week that he expects the team’s accuracy to “even out” over time.
