A one-of-a-kind trading card bearing the autographs of NBA legends Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan sold for $12.932 million during Heritage Auctions’ Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction on Aug. 23–24.
The 1-of-1 Logoman card, offered publicly for the first time, set a new benchmark for any sports card, surpassing the $12.6 million paid in 2022 for a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle No. 311 graded SGC Mint+ 9.5.
“I think that this incredible world-record price reflects two things,” Heritage Director of Sports Auctions Chris Ivy said. “First, this is the finest modern basketball card in the world, and second, Heritage Auctions provides our clients with the best platform to generate world-record results for rare collectibles.”
The card drew 82 bids before closing Saturday night. Its sale headlined a session that shattered multiple memorabilia records:
- A 1960 game-worn, signed Mickey Mantle New York Yankees jersey commanded $5.246 million, the highest price ever paid for a Mantle jersey.
- A signed 1952 Topps Mantle card reached $1,067,500, a record for that specific autographed issue.
- A ticket stub from Michael Jordan’s NBA debut in 1984 sold for $280,600, the most ever for a Jordan ticket stub.
The auction coincided with two dates significant to Bryant’s legacy: his Aug. 23 birthday and Aug. 24’s “Mamba Day,” intensifying interest in memorabilia linked to the five-time NBA champion.
