Boston Celtics guard and Finals MVP Jaylen Brown has placed Los Angeles Lakers icons Kobe Bryant and LeBron James on his shortlist of favorite NBA players. The selection came during a video segment with creator PlaqueBoyMax, shared by House of Highlights on August 8, 2025.

Brown’s full list featured five names:

  • Kobe Bryant
  • LeBron James
  • Stephen Curry
  • Allen Iverson
  • Tracy McGrady

Bryant, a five-time NBA champion, and James, a four-time champion and the league’s all-time leading scorer, both spent significant portions of their careers with the Lakers. Brown grew up watching Bryant and now regularly faces James, who remains active at age 40.

The 28-year-old All-Star expressed regret that he never met Bryant. Brown entered the league as the No. 3 overall pick in 2016, the same year Bryant retired. The Lakers legend died in 2020, leaving Brown without an opportunity for an in-person encounter.

While Bryant and James headline the group, Brown also acknowledged the influence of Curry, Iverson, and McGrady—three players whose careers have shaped modern basketball and are expected to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
