Fan voting for the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Tissot Most Valuable Player award officially launched as the continental tournament heads into its knockout phase. The honor will be presented at the conclusion of the championship game on Sept. 14.
Leading candidates
Luka Doncic, now starring for the Los Angeles Lakers while leading Slovenia, tops the statistical charts with tournament-best averages in points and steals per game and sits second in assists. Despite his individual numbers, Slovenia finished group play 3-2, a record that could complicate his MVP bid without a deep postseason run.
Two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic anchors a Serbian squad widely considered a title threat. The Denver Nuggets center ranks inside the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding, though Serbia dropped its final group contest to Turkey.
Alperen Sengun powered undefeated Turkey past Serbia behind a standout performance. The Houston Rockets big man is sixth in scoring, fourth in rebounds and third in assists across the competition.
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen has carried Finland—an underdog entering the event—to a knockout berth while placing third in scoring and eighth in rebounding. Orlando Magic wing Franz Wagner is also in the mix, ranking in the top 10 in points and steals for unbeaten Germany.
Past winners
The EuroBasket MVP roll call features international greats such as Pau Gasol (2009, 2015), Dirk Nowitzki (2005) and Tony Parker (2013). Spain’s Willy Hernangomez claimed the trophy in 2022, but the defending champs did not advance beyond this year’s group stage.
Knockout bracket set
With group play complete, Doncic and Slovenia will meet Italy in the round of 16. A victory would set up a quarterfinal against either Germany or Portugal. Other first-round pairings include Serbia–Finland, Turkey–Sweden, Greece–Israel, Poland–Bosnia and Herzegovina, and France–Georgia.
Fans can submit their MVP selections online through the final day of the tournament.
