Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent is expected to miss two to four weeks after an MRI revealed a sprained left ankle, according to reports from Shams Charania and ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

Vincent sustained the injury during the Lakers’ victory over the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 28 and was ruled out for the remainder of that game. Head coach JJ Redick will now be without the 29-year-old guard as the team enters a stretch already complicated by the absences of LeBron James and Luka Doncic.

The Lakers have listed Vincent, Marcus Smart and Jaxson Hayes as out for their upcoming matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. With three rotation players sidelined, Redick is expected to increase minutes for Dalton Knecht, Bronny James and two-way guards Nick Smith Jr. and Chris Manon.

Vincent, praised by Redick for his leadership during training camp, had earned a consistent role off the bench after overcoming a knee issue that plagued his first season in Los Angeles. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 7.8 points in 2024-25, primarily spacing the floor and providing perimeter defense.

The Lakers have not announced a specific date for Vincent’s return but indicated that he will be re-evaluated as his recovery progresses.
