The Emirates NBA Cup moved into its knockout phase on Monday, with the league confirming quarterfinal pairings following the conclusion of group play.
Western Conference
The Los Angeles Lakers secured the No. 2 seed in the West after closing group competition with a 129-119 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Los Angeles matched the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 4-0 record but trailed in point differential, +75 to +46. The Lakers will face the San Antonio Spurs at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. PT.
Oklahoma City claimed the top seed and will welcome the Phoenix Suns, who advanced as the West’s Wild Card with a 3-1 mark. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 4:30 p.m. PT.
Eastern Conference
In the East, the Orlando Magic earned the No. 1 position with a perfect 4-0 record and host the Miami Heat (3-1) on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. PT. The Toronto Raptors also went 4-0 and enter as the No. 2 seed; they meet the New York Knicks (3-1) on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 5:30 p.m. PT.
Path to Las Vegas
Quarterfinals will be played in team arenas on Dec. 9–10. Winners advance to Las Vegas for the semifinals on Dec. 13, with the championship game set for Dec. 15.
Injury Watch
The Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama has missed recent games because of a calf strain. His status for the quarterfinal could affect San Antonio’s chances against Los Angeles.
