Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves said he is fine after exiting Sunday night’s preseason victory over the Golden State Warriors with a leg issue.
The game on Oct. 12, 2025, at Crypto.com Arena marked the Lakers’ first win of the exhibition schedule. Reaves paced Los Angeles in 23 minutes, finishing with 21 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block while shooting 7-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4 from three-point range.
Midway through the third quarter, the 25-year-old appeared to bang legs with Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski and did not return. He remained on the bench and told reporters afterward, “I’m good.” Head coach JJ Redick confirmed the guard merely “bumped legs,” noting the contact affected Reaves’ calf.
The Lakers are already managing other injuries, including LeBron James, making Reaves’ availability critical. Until James is back, the Arkansas native is expected to handle much of the playmaking load alongside Luka Dončić in the Los Angeles backcourt.
Reaves Commends Bronny James
After practice last week, Reaves highlighted second-year point guard Bronny James as one of the team’s pleasant surprises.
“He’s been good,” Reaves said. “He didn’t shoot the ball as well as he wanted the first game, but all his shots were good. He’s a good kid, has a good head on his shoulders, is all about the right stuff and just wants to compete and get better.”
The Lakers continue preseason play later this week while monitoring Reaves’ status.
