Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves engaged in a heated exchange with an Oklahoma City Thunder spectator after teammate Luka Doncic suffered a hamstring injury during the third quarter of the Lakers’ loss to the Thunder on April 3, 2026.
According to video shared by multiple social-media accounts, the fan yelled, “Now you know what it’s like to play defense,” as Doncic remained on the floor in visible pain. Reaves quickly responded, shouting, “Shut the f*** up. Shut up, he’s f***ing hurt.” The exchange escalated when the fan replied, “F*** you,” prompting Reaves to repeat the expletive before teammates and officials intervened.
Doncic had gone down after grabbing at the back of his leg, ultimately exiting the contest. The Thunder went on to secure a comfortable victory, adding to the Lakers’ frustration on the night.
Reaves later emphasized that spectators should show respect when a player is clearly injured. The incident offered another look at the strong relationship between Reaves and Doncic, who have frequently traded playful jabs throughout the season but remain close off the court.
The third-year guard was also dealing with his own physical issue, leaving the game briefly in the first half because of back soreness. He returned to action and said he does not expect the problem to linger.
