Warriors, Kuminga Not Discussing Extension of Oct. 1 Qualifying Offer Deadline

The Golden State Warriors and restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga have had no conversations about moving the Oct. 1 deadline for the forward to accept his $7.9 million qualifying offer, league sources told Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
Clock Ticking on Qualifying Offer
Golden State extended the qualifying offer in June, making the 6-foot-8 wing a restricted free agent. If Kuminga signs the one-year deal before Wednesday’s cutoff, he would secure a no-trade clause and enter unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026, but he would forfeit more than $40 million in guaranteed salary available in multiyear proposals from the team.
Three Contract Proposals Rejected
According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater and Shams Charania, the Warriors have presented three separate contracts:
- Three years, $75.2 million, with a team option in Year 3 ($48.3 million guaranteed over the first two seasons)
- Two years, $45 million, with a team option in Year 2
- Three years, $54 million, fully guaranteed
Kuminga turned down all three offers.
Absent From Team Minicamp
Charania reported on “NBA Today” that Kuminga was the only rotation player from last season who did not attend a recent player-run minicamp in San Diego. Without a contract, the 21-year-old is under no obligation to participate in team activities.
Free-Agent Plans on Hold
The stalemate has limited Golden State’s ability to finalize reported deals with Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, and potentially Seth Curry, Fischer noted. Training camp opens Monday, meaning the Warriors may begin workouts shorthanded if no agreement is reached.
Golden State’s first preseason game is scheduled for Oct. 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers, with the regular-season opener set for Oct. 21 in Los Angeles.
