De’Aaron Fox Labels Draymond Green the NBA’s Top Whiner

San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox publicly singled out Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green as the league’s most prolific complainer during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back” on Sept. 3, 2025.

Asked to name the NBA’s biggest grievance-airer, Fox responded instantly: “Draymond will clothesline you and then look at the ref like, ‘What’d I do?’” The 27-year-old guard added that some protests are justified because officiating can be “godawful at times,” but said Green tops the list for overreacting to calls.

Comment Follows Earlier Rockets-Warriors Dispute

Fox’s jab comes days after Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün accused several Warriors of exaggerating contact to draw whistles. Green dismissed Şengün’s critique and even took verbal aim at teammate Tari Eason’s mother, escalating the back-and-forth.

Long History of Technical Fouls

Green, 35, collected 18 technical fouls in the 2024-25 regular season, third-most behind Anthony Edwards (20) and Dillon Brooks (19). It marked the 11th consecutive season in which the four-time champion reached double digits in that category.

Prior to the season, Green told former NBA guard Baron Davis on a podcast that he planned to keep his technical count under 10—“maybe even less than eight”—in his 13th campaign. The target was never approached.

Playoff Incident Adds to Reputation

The forward’s most recent technical came in the second quarter of Game 2 of the 2025 Western Conference semifinals, a 117-93 Golden State loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. After being fouled by center Naz Reid, Green swung an elbow that struck Reid in the head. Following video review, officials assessed a technical, prompting a heated exchange that ended with Green on the bench. He later told reporters the call was part of “an agenda to try to keep making me look like an angry Black man.”

Green picked up 13 technical fouls in the suspension-shortened 2023-24 season.
