San Francisco, CA — The Golden State Warriors have expressed interest in a sign-and-trade deal that would send guard Josh Giddey from the Chicago Bulls to the Bay Area while forward Jonathan Kuminga moves to Chicago, league insider Jake Fischer said during a Bleacher Report livestream on Thursday.
Double Sign-and-Trade on the Table
According to Fischer, multiple teams have contacted Giddey’s representatives, and Golden State is among those willing to explore “some kind of Josh Giddey–Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade.” Any agreement would require the Bulls’ approval, and Chicago has reportedly told other clubs it is not eager to discuss sign-and-trade arrangements.
Bulls Maintain Long-Standing Interest in Kuminga
Chicago has inquired about Kuminga in previous conversations with the Warriors, including early this offseason and in past talks involving Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso. Despite receiving a one-year, $7.9 million qualifying offer from Golden State, Kuminga would need to press for a move to force the Warriors’ hand. Fischer added that Kuminga’s camp still views the Bulls as a potential destination, either through a trade now or unrestricted free agency next summer.
Warriors Unmoved by Other Offers
Sam Amick of The Athletic recently reported that Golden State has shown no interest in proposals from the Phoenix Suns or the Sacramento Kings for Kuminga, making Chicago a prominent option if the forward is moved.
Giddey Seeking Five-Year Extension
Giddey is reportedly pursuing a five-year, $150 million contract—approximately $30 million annually—similar to the deal Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs signed. The Bulls view the 21-year-old as a cornerstone after acquiring him from the Oklahoma City Thunder in last summer’s trade that sent Caruso to Oklahoma City, but the two sides remain $8 million to $10 million apart per year.
Selected sixth overall in 2021, Giddey is entering the final season of his four-year, $27.21 million rookie contract and will earn $8.35 million in 2024-25.
