ISTANBUL — Veteran guard Talen Horton-Tucker is nearing an agreement with reigning EuroLeague champion Fenerbahce, multiple outlets reported Monday.
The 24-year-old is still seeking an NBA offer, but sources told BasketNews.com that he will sign in Turkey if no suitable deal materializes. Eurohoops.net added that a contract framework is already in place, awaiting Horton-Tucker’s final decision.
NBA background
Selected 46th overall in the 2019 draft, Horton-Tucker won an NBA title as a rookie with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. He remained in Los Angeles for three seasons before being traded to the Utah Jazz during the 2022 offseason.
The Chicago native produced his career-high 41 points on March 29, 2023, when the Jazz defeated the San Antonio Spurs 128-117. He entered unrestricted free agency last summer but did not secure a guaranteed deal.
Horton-Tucker then accepted an Exhibit 10 contract with his hometown Bulls in September and earned a spot on the regular-season roster. Coming off the bench in 58 games, he averaged 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 12.5 minutes while shooting 45.7% overall and a career-best 33.6% from three-point range. In April, he averaged 13.3 points as Chicago won six of its final seven games.
Fenerbahce roster notes
Should Horton-Tucker finalize the move, he would join a squad that already features former NBA players Onuralp Bitim, Wade Baldwin IV, Khem Birch, Nicolo Melli, and Brandon Boston Jr. The club recently lost key contributor Nigel Hayes-Davis, who signed with the Phoenix Suns earlier this offseason.
Fenerbahce captured the EuroLeague crown last season and is preparing its roster for a title defense that would begin this fall.
