Canadian investor and “Shark Tank” personality Kevin O’Leary has teamed with longtime collectors Matthew Allen and Paul Warshaw to acquire the only Michael Jordan–Kobe Bryant dual Logoman autographed patch card ever produced. The trio secured the 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection card for $12.932 million during a Heritage Auctions sale that concluded early Sunday morning.
The winning price eclipsed the previous sports-card record—set by a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle No. 311 graded SGC 9.5—by more than $300,000. Heritage Auctions sports director Chris Ivy said collectors have long regarded the card as a modern “holy grail” because no additional Jordan-Bryant Logoman cards can be created.
O’Leary, known on television as “Mr. Wonderful,” joined the bid as what he called the group’s “numbers and analytics” partner, while Allen—widely recognized online as Shyne150—and Miami entrepreneur Warshaw supplied hobby expertise. According to O’Leary, the three met on a late-night Zoom call before submitting the winning offer.
Speaking to CNBC on Monday, the 71-year-old investor compared the card to assets such as bitcoin or gold, adding that he does not expect it to reenter the market during his lifetime. Allen wrote on Instagram that he normally keeps such purchases private for months but considered this acquisition an exception because of its significance.
