CHICAGO — The Chicago Bulls have placed a multi-year offer worth about $20 million annually in front of restricted free agent Josh Giddey, according to multiple reports, but the 21-year-old guard is holding out for roughly $30 million per season.

K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reported that the current package is similar to the four-year, $80 million deal Giddey rejected when free agency opened. Giddey and his representatives are said to be seeking a five-year contract near $150 million, a structure that mirrors agreements signed this offseason by Orlando’s Jalen Suggs ($150.5 million) and Toronto’s Immanuel Quickley ($162.5 million).

Chicago has shown no interest in arranging a sign-and-trade, a stance that limits Giddey’s leverage in restricted free agency. Spotrac figures indicate the Bulls are $38.6 million below the luxury-tax threshold, giving the front office room to approach the guard’s asking price without exceeding the tax line.

Giddey, the No. 6 pick in the 2021 draft, wrapped up a four-year rookie deal that paid him $8.35 million in 2024-25. Last season he started 69 of 70 games and posted 14.6 points, career highs of 8.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals, while shooting 46.5% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range. He ranked 10th in the NBA in total assists (503) and 20th in defensive rebounds (439).

The Australian native turns 23 in October and is set to enter his fifth NBA campaign in 2025-26. Negotiations with Chicago remain active, but the two sides reportedly remain $8 million to $10 million apart in annual salary expectations.
