The franchise’s 3-19 start has rekindled outside speculation, particularly with the former No. 1 pick again limited by injuries—first a hamstring strain, now an adductor problem.
ClutchPoints reporter Chris Dodson wrote that a league contact believes the Pelicans would accept the first “decent, reasonable” proposal they receive for the two-time All-Star. Lawrence Frank, president of basketball operations for the Clippers, and several key lieutenants are trending toward contract extensions, according to The Athletic’s Joe Vardon. Multiple team sources told the outlet that negotiations remain early, yet owner Steve Ballmer values continuity and is not considering a front-office overhaul despite the club’s uneven opening to the season.
In the same report, Vardon, Sam Amick and Law Murray detailed why veteran guard Chris Paul and the Clippers split abruptly. League sources said Paul’s frequent, sharp critiques resonated poorly in a locker room dominated by established veterans and experienced coaches, contributing to the quick separation amid disappointing results on the court.
Suns lose Booker for at least seven days
The Suns announced that Devin Booker will be re-evaluated in one week after an MRI revealed a right groin strain suffered Monday against the Lakers. Shams Charania of ESPN described the diagnosis as the “best-case scenario,” indicating the injury is not considered serious even if Booker needs more than seven days to recover.
The 27-year-old guard is averaging 25.0 points, 6.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds through 22 games, leading a retooled Phoenix roster that sits 13-9 following offseason departures of Kevin Durant and the buyout of Bradley Beal.
