Yongxi “Jacky” Cui has agreed to play for the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association, according to Chinese reporter Zhang Duo.
Cui confirmed the move on his personal Weibo account, while Albert De Roa of HoopsHype reported that the contract runs through the 2025/26 campaign. The 22-year-old guard/forward stands 6’6” and most recently belonged to the Brooklyn Nets organization.
Last December, Cui tore the ACL in his right knee during a game with the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G League affiliate. He was waived from his two-way NBA contract a few days after the injury.
Undrafted in 2024, Cui logged five NBA appearances for Brooklyn in 2024/25, totaling 10 minutes on the court. In five G League outings the same season, he averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists over 16.9 minutes per game.
A graduate of the NBA Global Academy, Cui previously spent two seasons with the CBA’s Guangzhou Loong Lions before catching on with the Nets. New York Post reporter Brian Lewis recently noted that the Chinese national team member had been rehabbing at the Nets’ practice facility and was playing 5-on-5 in Los Angeles.
Cui now heads back to China to continue his professional career with Guangdong.
